William Q. Ramey -Director of Information Systems
“William serves as the Executive Board Member for Region 8 of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), where he is dedicated to advancing the field of emergency telecommunications and supporting the 9-1-1 community through education, advocacy, and innovation.
With over two decades of experience in information systems and public safety technology, William currently leads as the Director of Information Systems for the City of Chicago’s Office of Public Safety Administration (OPSA). In this role, he oversees all aspects of the City’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) systems—ensuring continuous 24/7 operations, managing multimillion-dollar budgets, and guiding the strategic modernization of Chicago’s Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) network infrastructure.
Before joining OEMC, William held key technical and leadership positions with Comcast Business Class, where he managed enterprise-level telecommunications projects, and at West Suburban Medical Center, where he supported critical laboratory information systems. His broad technical expertise spans network and systems management, project leadership, CAD and PSAP operations, and NG9-1-1 planning and implementation.
A passionate advocate for public safety technology, William remains committed to enhancing emergency communications through collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement—helping ensure that 9-1-1 professionals and the communities they serve are supported by the most reliable and advanced systems possible.”
